At Kansas City Academy, we offer a unique approach to physical education. CrossFit trainer/PE teacher Dana Davenport strives to push students to their best health and fitness and designs the class for students to understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle. PE classes include elements of weight lifting, bodyweight movements, running, jumping rope, and more. Additionally, yoga (breathing), flexibility, agility, balance, and coordination are taught in class. Students learn correct body mechanics through safe, functional, and fun movements.
This year we are happy to introduce a new PE class, Introduction to Dance. Students in this class will participate in the following: daily stretching and core strength exercises; body alignment & awareness activities; basic ballet & jazz skills: basic 5 positions & 7 movements of dance, barre work, and across-the-floor exercises.
