School Counselor 

Kansas City Academy is seeking a professional to assume counseling duties for its 80 middle/high school students. Duties will commence on August 9, 2022. This position entails working with KCA’s students, families, and faculty/staff to address the social/emotional and academic guidance needs of our students, grades 6 through 12. Key Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in education, school counseling, social work, counseling, counseling psychology or a closely related mental health discipline - LCSW, LPC, LCPC preferred

  • Min 1-2 years of counseling youth with school counseling experience at the middle and/or high school level is strongly preferred.

  • Experience supporting students with learning disabilities.

  • Experience providing crisis intervention services to youth experiencing mental health symptoms.

  • Previous teaching and/or special education experience preferred.

  • Strong writing skills as well as communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively.

  • Proven ability to listen and connect with children and families while showing empathy and concern.

  • Awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues related to academic success and college and career readiness.

  • Understanding of and commitment to the KCA Philosophy and Mission.
