Theater at Kansas City Academy

The KCA Theater Department provides a process-based arts education, with the goal of helping students discover their passion, self-expression, and confidence. Through a wide range of projects, visiting theater professionals, and productions, students learn a variety of skills including communication, decision-making, problem-solving, self-discipline, critical analysis, collaboration, responsibility, organization, concentration, and empathy, benefiting them even if their life goals don't include theater. In the 2015-2016 school year, 21 theater professionals donated their time, energy, and talents to teach and collaborate with the theater students.

KCA Theater provides the opportunity for aspiring young actors to expand their experience and abilities by rehearsing and performing in the Sally Firestone Theater.

Almost, Maine -- December 2016

KCA Theater students presented Almost, Maine by John Cariani:

As the Northern Lights illuminate the skies above the town of Almost, Maine, all is not as one would expect. Simultaneously, the residents each find themselves at turning points in their lives, all at 9:00 one Friday night. In this quirky comedy, these midwinter dreams become strangely real.
