Rain or shine, the 2017 Battle of the Bands will be on the patio at Californos in Westport.
Of course, if it rains, we will go indoors. We don't want anyone to get shocked!
Judging will be done using a 100 point system. All scores will be added up. The sum will be the band’s final score, which will determine who is in 1st place. Judges have the final decision in selecting the winner.
The three criteria on which the bands will be judged are:
Music, 0-80 points
This is based on clarity, intonation, vocal delivery, cohesiveness in lyrics and instrumentation, and original material (songs and production).
Professionalism / Stage Presence / Crowd Interaction, 0-10 points
This is based on setup and teardown time, introductions, acknowledgments, how well the band "rocks out", and how well the band connects with the crowd.
Appearance and Personality, 0-10 points
This is based on the overall look and personality. If you want to be a rock star, you need to look the part!
Any distasteful behavior, and or damage to the venue will result in automatic disqualification at the hands of management and judges. Californos and Kansas City Academy will not be held accountable for any broken equipment, injuries, or any other negative occurrences outside of our staff’s control.
